Love Comes from Unexpected Places, and So Do Contacts

Note from Rebecca: I should have published this on Valentine's Day. Sorry for the late timing.
Every SEO person knows this -- it goes without saying, but I'll repeat it again, in case you ever doubt it -- Content IS King and you never know who will be reading yours.
Back in 1997, I owned an e-commerce website selling chocolates and gift baskets. As you can imagine, Valentine's Day was a very busy time of year. Part of the content I designed on the site surrounded the history of holidays as they related to chocolate. We all love chocolate, don't we? I decided to learn and write about the holidays as they relate to chocolate, or in my case, the History of Valentine's Day.
One day, as I was filling orders, I received a phone call -- yes, I know you all guessed it -- from CNN. One of their employees had come across my site in the search engines -- not for my chocolates, mind you, but because of my History of Valentine's Day article. They were impressed with the content and the story (and the fact that nobody "really" knows how Valentine's Day came to be) so they invited me to CNN to do a story about my article.
Well, my story turned into a 30 second blurb played at 2AM and I'm sure you all saw it because I know I was sleeping. For what it's worth, I never thought CNN would drop by to read my article.
My point is that you can find content worth creating in anything that you find interesting, and you never know who you'll meet along the way. People love to read fresh and new ideas and there are tons of History buffs out there clamoring for a story. If you ever find yourself looking for something to write, why not pick a "History of" item. Every job has a history -- even SEO.
