How to Pitch To Speak at MozCon 2025
If you read our announcement post last week, you already know MozCon is back for 2025. This time, we're hosting two events: one in London and another in New York.
We know many Community members are eager to pitch, but it can feel overwhelming if you're unsure what organizers are looking for.
The MozCon team receives hundreds of pitches, but only a few truly stand out.
In this post, I’ll explain how to write a compelling pitch, the topics we're excited about, and what happens after you hit submit.
How to pitch
Think of it like an elevator pitch. The committee reviews dozens of submissions daily, scanning for outstanding pitches. So, you need to make an immediate impact.
Here’s how to structure your pitch:
Title
Make your title value-focused and easy to understand. Our core audience is SEO and digital marketers. Would your title excite them enough to buy tickets, grab their notebook, and take notes?
Bullet list
Use a bullet list to outline the main points you'll cover in your presentation. Ensure they align with the value you promised in your title and solve a real problem.
What challenges does your topic address? What fears or frustrations do SEOs and marketers face around it? Most importantly, what solution will leave them feeling confident and ready to act?
Practical knowledge the audience takes away
MozCon is all about empowering our audience to take action. We encourage speakers to make their talks practical, offering enough guidance for attendees to implement the tips they have learned.
Complete this sentence: By the end of this talk, the audience will know how to…
What topics are we looking for?
I encourage you to wear your empathy hat and think about the biggest problems digital marketers and SEOs face today.
A few topics we’re interested in include:
SERP volatility and AI search features eroding organic traffic
Search results are more unpredictable than ever, with AI search features impacting clicks. If you've found a strategy to protect or recover organic traffic, we want to hear about it.
Using AI in your daily workflows
How are you using AI as a marketer to make more money for yourself or your clients? We love AI, and so does our audience. Show us the coolest things you’ve built with AI and how you use it to reach your SEO and marketing goals.
Optimizing and appearing in generative search features
What strategies are helping you secure visibility in generative search? If you’ve cracked the code, pitch us your process, but add proof to back it up.
Your biggest SEO win of 2024 or 2025 (so far)
What’s the standout success you had in 2024? Is it replicable? Think about the strategy that drove that win and share how others can achieve similar results.
Your SEO superpower
If you think of your skill set as an SEO or marketer, what’s one thing you do exceptionally well—a process you’ve perfected to the point that you’re almost protective of it because it consistently delivers massive results? That’s the talk we want to hear.
At the core, we're most interested in practical applications that help marketers and SEOs do their jobs better. We want people to return to work with something new they didn’t know before, something they learned from you and can apply immediately.
What makes a pitch stand out
The pitches that rise to the top share three key qualities:
- Clear and concise: Get to the value quickly.
- A fresh angle: We want original ideas you haven’t presented elsewhere.
- Practical value: Our audience is filled with expert SEOs. Show them something new, not broad or surface-level insights.
When you'll hear from us
Due to the high volume of pitches we receive, we'll only contact speakers with whom we decide to move forward. If you're selected, you'll hear from us by mid-March.
That means we’ll review pitches as they come in and close the form by mid-March. If you're interested in speaking at MozCon New York or London, it’s best to pitch now.
Ready to pitch?
We can’t wait to hear your ideas. Submit your pitch today, and you could take the stage at MozCon 2025.
