Sounds of the Google W-W-Wave are Superstylin!

I orignally wrote this blog post back a little while ago, but between the server crashes and all that I think it got lost in translation so.... This was my Saturday night at about 3-4am...

 *insert Twilight Zone music here*

As I write this blog I am listening to Groove Armada's Superstylin, I just finished watching the video from Google I/O and quite frankly, Google Wave is Superstylin!

Do the Wave!

Wave!

Google Wave has been announced. After watching the video from Google I/O, I am left thinking what can't it do? Google Wave has all the positive things that Twitter uses and seems to do it better, and they even have the tweetey app to include us twitterholics. Instant messaging is being taken to the next level, picture posting has become EVEN FASTER than twitpic or Flickr, blogging has been evolved, linking has become EVEN FASTER, video posting/sharing has become EVEN FASTER, instant searching has become even better. You want to talk about Web 3.0? Well, I will talk about Google Wave 'cause it is probably 3.0 and maybe even 4.0. Its ability to network may possibly be the greatest tool thus far. Arguably there is infinite potential right now for using Wave in the business world and the recreational world.

Google wants multiple hosts of Wave. Does that mean Wave will be free, or are we going to be to paying for hosting services for a Wave? Entrepreneurs created ISP's back in the 90's and some of them become successful. Is there a potential that this will happen with Wave?

The potential for SEO with Wave is pretty hard to grasp right now, but my big wonder is no follow tags. Now, most social network sites have no follow tags on links posted with Wave being open source, Google is aiming for multiple hosts/servers for different waves, so can they keep links no followed? It also seems to me the whole dynamic of getting a video (or anything, for that matter) to "go viral" is about to change. Just because Google Wave placed a Twitter app inside of Wave, to me it seems this could be a potential nail in the coffin for Twitter. If Wave can do everything Twitter can except potentially better, then why have Twitter?

In my last blog post I wrote for SEOmoz, I talked about social media sites and using them for online reputation management. I think with Wave this is going to be a VERY interesting turn for online reputation management. Imagine being a company and having to deal with multiple negative waves with large amounts of people in each wave (haha, Twitter trends but worse).

It is so early to do anything other than speculate but let's hear it, SEOmoz.org, let's ride the first wave from Google Wave.
