I'm an active amateur photographer, have been as long as I can remember. In 1999 I began working for a photography portal whose development was outsourced. Unfortunately, we discovered the site was built in frames and unindexable. Researching how to rectify the situation introduced me to SEO very early on and I have followed the trends closely ever since. The site died because traffic acquisition was too expensive, all of our competitors back then are alive and well now. Our failure made an dramatic impact on me.
In terms of forensic evidence, as an in-house guy I rarely have much to share publicly but I do what I can by responding to requests over at the Google Webmaster Forum and answering questions on Quora.
Yes, I do think Google+ is the best thing since sliced bread.
