Searchmetrics recently launched their yearly Ranking Factors Study that bases numbers on rank correlation and averages of top 10 SEO rankings. The 2014 analysis shows that content on top-performing sites is much more holistic and less keyword-focused. In this post, Marcus Tober, founder and CTO of Searchmetrics, explains why you should focus on more than just keywords when it comes to technical aspects of your site, and how you can create relevant, comprehensive content for users.
I studied computer science in Berlin. During my study I developed the well-known SEO platform linkvendor.com in 2005. It was part of my diploma thesis and door opener to the global SEO world. At the same time I built the largest online greeting cards platform in Germany with millions of visitors every month. Because of my passion to SEO I decided to focus on Searchmetrics my SEO software company and sold the Ecards and more GmbH in 2008 to the largest European company builder Rocket Internet. Now we do pretty crazy data stuff at Searchmetrics. Our mission is to deliver the knowledge and the platform to Enterprise companies to leverage their organic search success.
