RE: Old competitor site but GMB listing no more, are links still valuable?
@grouchykids Considering that the current site that you have up and running there is just a placeholder I would encourage trying the redirect, it certainly will not hurt and can only help the business and maybe the additional 98 links will help push it's authority.
In itself, the links aren't going to be incredibly valuable as they all run through a redirect from an 'expired' domain.

RE: My Website Page Speed is not increasing
@frazashfaq11 Hi! I think the Lighthouse output tells you that while you might have resized the images correctly in Photoshop, the width & height attributes aren't added to your image tags in HTML. So what is happening is that the browser can't reserve the actual space for the image upfront as it has to wait for the image to be loaded.

RE: Choosing the right keywords when the products are similar
@voucherstore-0 Are you able to somehow mix it in with modifiers? Cheapest, best, most popular? That could potentially already help to change the direction of the page.
Edit: Adding in, often what you see in use cases like this is that there actually isn't any search volume around most of these types of keywords so it could be that you're trying to optimize for something that isn't there.

RE: Utilizing one robots.txt for two sites
You can use the same syntax on both root domains but realistically you can't have 1 robots.txt point to something else (with the exception of XML sitemaps). The only option that I see here is that you have one file that gets served from 1 server on both requests from two sites but that seems like a lot of engineering overkill for a very simple problem (just duplicating files).

RE: SEO question for page keyword focus - how to make it sound natural
@eulabrant Write about the use of them, where they can be bought, figure out what particular types, brands, makes & models are popular and include that in your content and you likely have a very easy time to make the content sound very natural.

RE: Will modifying an existing CNAME record effect my Domain Authority
It shouldn't. As just the hosting changes and the CNAME but not the domain or the links that are pointing to it you should be absolutely fine.

RE: Redirect 410
@ghorbanimahan I would not recommend using a 410 for this type of use case. It's likely better to use a no-index, follow meta tag on the page as this provides Google with the directive to still find related pages but basically skip the content itself and certainly not index it.

RE: How do you report SEO audit findings?
Hi Andy,
This is a great question, let me flip this on its head and give you an insight into what I want to see as somebody who's requested but also delivered themselves on multiple audits.
- Show where the value is, I want to know based on keyword research and a little bit of competitive insight what the areas are that we should explore.
- Technical findings, speed is more important at the moment combined with structured data. Security in my opinion is an overrated piece in the mind of SEOs, we're not experts at that by a stretch.
- Crawl findings, especially for big sites tell me what types of pages are missing in XML or HTML sitemaps and how to improve the internal link structure.
Preferred formats, a presentation combined with a spreadsheet so that we have a list to work off but also a deck that can be presented internally to explain what's going on.
Martijn - hope this helps!

RE: Are descriptive titles better?
@sammecooper If you're trying to rank for: Training and Engagement then you likely want to include that in the title tag instead of making it too descriptive. Google does put still quite some value in it. In this case, I'd try to find a way to make it both descriptive as well as enticing to click.

RE: Moz DA is not improving my site DA why?
@ijiubu768 It can take a while for Moz to pick up the new domains and recalculate your Moz DA based on this. In the end, you usually really have to push hard with a few dozen links to see your domain authority grow especially from higher authority sites as well.
If you'd provide some more context on the work you've done to improve your backlink profile we might be able to help you in a better way?

RE: Sitemaps Updating
Yeah, it shouldn't be like this but it's probably due to the plugin you're using. Best would be to kick off the new year in style and start using the WordPress SEO plugin by Yoast. It will automatically take care of updating your sitemaps whenever you post new content. On top of that you could also filter out individual posts if needed.

RE: Google indexing despite robots.txt block
Hi Phillipp,
You almost got me with this one, but it's fairly simple. In your question you're pointing at the robots.txt of your HTTP page. But it's mostly your HTTP**S **pages that are indexed and if you look at that robots.txt file it's pretty clear why these pages are indexed: https://www1.swisscom.ch/robots.txt all the pages that are indexed match with one of your Allow statements are the complete Disallow. Hopefully that provides you with the insight on how to fix your issue.

RE: Google does not favour php websites?
Hi Raymond,
I seriously hope that they meant this in a different context than just saying PHP for SEO is bad. Because it's absolutely not true, at least 20% of the web is almost using WordPress which is nothing more than PHP. Besides that millions of sites are using PHP as well so I won't bother about this advice and if they literally said this then look for another SEO company as they're probably not worth the risk.

Hey!
Yeah you forgot to close some objects + arrays. This is at least validating but please make sure your objects are correct:

RE: Is it Keyword Stuffing??
Using your keyword twice is definitely not what I would call keyword stuffing. But I would make sure that you create quality content for this post as the EMD (exact matching domain) could get you in trouble someday if you don't do this.

RE: Website 'stolen', no contact details
Hi Carl,
Auch, this is probably not a use case you ever wanted to fix for you clients. However I would suggest filing a DCMA request based on the copyright of your texts/ images used on your client site. This will, hopefully, at least remove the copied site out of Googles index.
Filing such a request could be done here: http://support.google.com/bin/static.py?hl=en&ts=1114905&page=ts.cs
Good luck!

RE: Direct traffic is up 2100% (due to a bot/crawler I believe)
I would check the service providers first just to know for sure they're all coming from the same provider. You can check this by visiting your Audience > Technology > Network report on the left side of your Google Analytics. If you see the same network and browsers being used I would use a filter (only if you're really determined/ 100% sure that it's bot traffic) to get them completely out of your Google Analytics view.

RE: Why my Domain Authority (DA) is Decreased
Hi,
What you should realize is that a drop of 1 point in Domain Authority isn't the end of the world. You probably were already at the low end in this case of the number that you had. What likely would have happened is that you received some additional links (or maybe lost a couple) that were of lower domain authority by itself. With that your average receiving DA is decreasing a bit. But as this number is just a way to tell you what's going on I wouldn't recommend panicking over it as the data that Google has is more robust and isn't just based on 1 number like DA. I've seen many cases were DA can drop with 5-10+ points and traffic/business metrics aren't affected at all.
Martijn.
