@Tourizee Hi there, it's always tricky to out compete high authority domains like Yelp. But there are some basic rules you can follow to improve your chances, like listing your store locations and making sure your Google business Profile ( GBP) links to your landing page targeting that city.

Spam Score is calculated based on 27 flags that we identified that correlate with spamminess, that means that Spam Score is based on your own site and its features, setup, and content. While it can be hard to know for sure if this was due to a temporary outage at the time you were generating that list I can offer some support to help you resolve this and additional resources.
Typically if you see the error 'getting keyword list failed' when uploading a list of keywords using the CSV import functionality this is often caused by characters such as á or à, or other accented characters. Please check through your keyword list and remove these characters.

To start making improvements please review the factors that make up spam score, and then I would recommend that you prioritise what improvements you can make on your own site and its features, setup, and content with minimal disruption.

First off, we do not recommend disavowing backlinks unless you have a Google penalty. Disavowing is unlikely to improve your Spam Score and, as you've experienced, can affect your site's authority and have wider implications.
Before disavowing please review Google documentation, if you see adverse affects you may want to consider removing the disavow.
If you're working on improving Spam Score on your client's site then it is worth explaining that Spam Score reflects features on your site that may correlate with spammy sites. So you will need to investigate what is triggering these Spam Score flags on your client's site and figure out whether there is any room for improvement. The end goal isn't to reduce spam score to 0, but to identify areas for improvement It may be worth exploring your client's competitor's Spam Score to set expectations.

Changing and redirecting URLs will most likely affect your rankings and traffic. For this reason I wouldn't consider this a small optimization change. If the pages in question are revenue driving it may not be worth the change if it's just to reduce the URL length. I would only consider making changes if you identify major URL structure issues, and even then it could be worth addressing as part of a larger project, depending on the size and purpose of your site. If you're wanting to track the impact of changing and redirection URLs and the impact on your site's rankings you can follow this process in Moz Pro:
- Enter your original url into Keyword Explorer Keywords by Site
- Click 'see all Ranking Keywords'
- Select the ranking keywords checkbox and click add to > campaign
- You can then track and changes in you rankings over time and identify the impact of any changes

In the meantime you can "Ignore" those issue either by page or by Issue Type through the Moz Pro Site Crawl interface so they don't crop up every week. You can read more here on ignoring issues in Moz Pro.

Updated for 2021 Spam Score --
It's worth noting that a score of 1%-30% is considered a Low Spam Score, a score of 31%-60% is considered a Medium Spam Score, a score of 61%-100% is considered a High Spam Score.
Moz's Spam Score is the percentage of sites with similar features we've found to be penalized or banned by Google (it's not based on the spam score of the sites linking to you). To improve this score I would recommend reading our guide which explains the 27 factors used to make up this score. You can then look at your site and investigate areas you would like to improve on your site:

Disavowing or removing links is not a method for improving your Moz Spam Score. We don't have a way to identify links you've disavowed. Google doesn't make this information available through their Search Console API. Spam Score is percentage of sites with similar features we've found to be penalized or banned by Google.

There could be a couple of reasons, the first being that sadly our September index update broke
I'd like to direct you towards Rand's Q&A post which discusses the latest regarding the Oct index update and our plans for the future :). The next update is scheduled for this week and you can always check our update schedule at any time, as well.
If you're still not seeing your site in the index after the Oct index is released then it's likely that we've not been able to locate your pages through the links we follow to gather data for the index. We're not able to add sites by request.
To give your site the best chance of being crawled and indexed it's worth double checking your site doesn't block web crawlers (i.e., with "noindex" or Robots.txt). You'll also want to work on building links from sites with high Mozrank.
