    Hi, I have doubt using sitemaps My web page is a news we page and we have thousands of articles in every section. For example we have an area that is called technology We have articles since 1999!! So the question is how can Make googl robot index them? Months ago when you enter the section technology we used to have a paginator without limits, but we notice that this query consume a lot of CPU per user every time was clicked. So we decide to limit to 10 pages with 1 records. Now it works great BUT I can see in google webmaster tools that our index decreased dramatically The answer is very easy, the bot doesn't have a way to get older technoly news articles because we limit he query to 150 records total Well, the Questin is how can I fix this? Options: 1) leave the query without limits 2) create a new button " all tech news" with a different query without a limit but paginated with (for example) 200 records each page 3) Create a sitemap that contain all the tech articles Any idea? Really thanks.

    Just want to make sure I understand exactly what I am doing If I place this in my Robots.txt Disallow: /root/this/that By doing this I want to make sure that I am ONLY blocking the directory /that/ and anything in front of that. I want to make sure that /root/this/ still stays in the index, its just the that directory I want gone. Am I correct in understanding this?

    So sorry I really need your all help 😞 I'm really frustrated and stressed. For my website http://www.cma-academy.edu.sg , it has been ranking on Google 1st page (with the keywords "design course/design courses") for the past over 6 months and the traffic was really good... But it has been almost 2 months since the big drop... my ranking all is gone in just a week and now it's even not on the top 50.. While my competitors websites are stand stil. 😞 I seriously really want to cry because of this.. And I'm sure there is nothing much wrong with my SEO to be abandoned by Google like this and Google still index my webpage, but the crawling rate is so much slow than before.. I really need some help from the expert, especially from seomoz.. Please help me in this, I'm willing to answer any questions as well...

    Hi Guys One of our client's website is having 586 linking unique domains to http://www.XYZ.com.au (to home page only). They have migrated their site to https://www.XYZ.com.au so all of their site pages are on HTTPS now instead of HTTP. The HTTP version of the home page is 302 redirected to HTTPS therefore we think they are not getting all the link juice of 586 linking domains and would like to recommend to change their 302 to 301. However we have not seen any ranking drop due to this migration and redirect in place. The new HTTPS site/redirect is live from last 2 months now. So not sure its worth recommending 301 or not? Does this mean Google is picking up this 302 redirect as normal and attributing all link value to HTTPS version? Please can anyone share their thoughts on recent Google interpretation of 302 from HTTP to HTTPS? Thanks

    I've read up on the subject but am new at this so I thought I would just put forth a simple question.  We want our home page to be referred to as www.domain.com. We want the search engines to find and return this URl in search results.  But the page has to have a name and the actual name is NOT to www.domain.com/index.html. This, I believe is what can cause duplicate cotnent issues (not really duplicate but perceived by the serach engines as duplicate content).  Is it best to insert http://www.domain.com/" /> in the HEAD section of the index.html page or am I totally misunderstanding this concept?

    If I see a site is linking to my site in an article I will often find a way to include them in one of my updates (if the site is of good quality). Does this count as a link exchange since they are linking to me and I am also linking to them? Or is that only if it is a sidebar kind of link?

    1. Made sure the HTML is optimised for the target term
    2.     I'm using http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/richsnippets to test my rel="author" tag which was successful, but I noticed I wanted to change my image in Google+ as it is not what I want. I changed my image in Google+, it's been over 14 hours now and still not showing the new picture using the RichSnippets tool.  I know Google can take a couple weeks at least to show changes in search results, but this RichSnippet tool I thought was immeidate. Am I missing something here or am I just impatient?  I want my new photo to show.

    Hi Do you need or is it preferred to have an author page on your website to best integrate and take advantage of authorship integration ? I'm looking at Google+ instructions for setting up and doesn't mention it - saying all you need to do is as they instruct However even if they dont require it to integrate is it still better to have one for better author signals ? Also if you dont have a blog on your site (say you have a news page instead) can you still have an author page or does author page have to be the following format blog/author/name ? Cheers Dan

    My company ranks very well for the target keyword "blue link" but as it turns out Hyundai launched a new "Blue Link" service. Given that we are a much more niche offering, many of the searches for blue link are for hyundai. Because people tend to click on the first results without even reading anything, we have seen an increase in traffic as well as a huge spike in bounce rates once they realize we are not the right company. Our listing on Google is pretty clear what we are so I'm not sure how to fix this problem . . .

    I received the 7/23/12 Unnatural inbound links warning but nothing changed, if anything my traffic and rankings improved well over the next 2 - 3 months. But last week a couple of the better (maybe slightly over) optimized pages suddenly dropped out of the rankings completely, is it possible that these two events are related but three months apart? A change I made close to the time of the rankings dropping was completely overhauling the homepage. I realized this would impact the internal "link juice" flow but never expected the kind of drop in rankings I received. I have restored the homepage to its former glory but it hasn't helped get my slightly over optimized pages ranking again. Any ideas? Suggestions? Exact date of drop in rankings is 18 - 19 October (site has lost roughly 50% of its organic search traffic)

    Is it possible that my site was last cached in Google on  9 Oct (it was ranking 23 that time) and today on 29th oct its ranking position 3 for a kw though still showing cached on 9 oct. Its not cached since 9 oct, does that mean its not crawled since then? How can Google move up my ranking without caching it ?

    Hey everyone, I hope someone might be able to help me figure out what has gone wrong here. I have a website which was slowly growing in rankings. The domain used was a .net However, It is a UK based business so I shifted this to a .co.uk domain and then followed googles advice in webmaster tools for moving address. ie, copy site, verify in GWMT and then 301 the old site. Now the .net had 71 indexed pages out of 73. But after 2 months .co.uk only has 41 out of 73 indexed. At the end of last week I did change the theme on my website although the content / urls have all remained the same. I have gone to check my rankings this morning and the site has totally bombed. Even the own brand name does not ranking in top 10 pages. I have not done an major link building at all yet for the site and any links that are there are all high quality from industry related authority sites. Looking at GWMT the latest links all look ok, nothing spammy but one thing I did notice is that it shows the .net domain providing 193 links via 301and also individually a great deal of the links that point to .net but have shown in .co.uk What I would like to know if have I actually done something wrong? Should I just kill the 301 (i am loathed to do this as a few of the links to this took me a long time to get), after spending a great deal of money developing my site and just starting to see some nice progress in the natural rankings and google has gone and pulled the carpet from under me. I would understand if I was doing something wrong but I have made strenuous efforts to ensure the linking on this site is whiter that white. Oh, I have had no warnings in my messages at all. Thanks in advance for any advice.

    Hi Scenario 1: site running with prestashop at domain whatever.com There's a blog at a subfolder of domain, running with Wordpress whatever.com/blog Scenario 2: site running with prestashop at whatever.com. The blog is at a different server and domain with keywords, e.g. cloudtechnology.com What's better for the blog posts to have better SERP results? Scenario 1 or 2? From the point of view of a user, I have seen for friends and colleagues that scenario 2 works for the blog, and might work for the shop, since blog posts contain links to shop etc. However, all examples I've seen for scenario 1 are still struggling...it's hard for them to make the blog visible at SERPs...is it a coincidence or is there a reason?     I've been optimizing a small static HTML site and have been working to increase the keyword rankings, yet have always ranked #1 for the company name. But, I've now noticed the company name is taking more than just the first position - the site is now appearing in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd position (each position referencing a different page of the site). Great.. who doesn't want to dominate a page of Google! ..But it looks kind of untidy and not usually how links from the same site are displayed. Is this normal? I'm used to seeing results from the same site grouped under the primary result, but not like this. any info appreciated 🙂

    Hello All From about mid September my GWMT has show that the average  time to crawl a page on my site has shot up from an average of 130ms to an average of 700ms and peaks at 4000ms. I have checked my server error logs and found nothing there, I have checked with the hosting comapny and there are no issues with the server or other sites on the same server. Two weeks after this my ranking fell by about 950 places for most of my keywords etc.I am really just trying to eliminate this as a possible cause, of these ranking drops. Or was it the Pand/ EMD algo that has done it. Many Thanks Si

    This is really a developer/Webmaster issue. The closest category available to select was "Technical SEO" - but technically, this isn't a question about SEO, per se. I am doing free SEO work for a local arts organization as my way of giving them a charitable contribution. Despite my advice to stay on Drupal and improve the site on its current platform, they want something easier to manage for volunteers. This is perfectly understandable, although not my recommendation. Of course, not knowing anything about SEO, their first impulse was to simply shut down the old site, cancel all of their old pages, point the domain to their new WordPress site and completely start over. Thank goodness I yelled "Halt!" before they went this far 🙂 They really have no idea what they are doing and I want to help guide them through this process in a way that preserves as much as possible their inbound links (they have tons of .edu and .gov links because they are a local community arts organization). Of course they don't understand how valuable these are, so I have a lot of educating to do. I am trying to get them a quote from a professional developer to help migrate from Drupal to WordPress. The only login information anyone has been able to send me is login to their FTP. No one seems to have a login for the Drupal CMS back end, and when I asked for it they looked like deer caught in headlights Can someone tell me, or even send me a screenshot of what the admin login page looks like for a Drupal site, so I can explain better to this client what I am looking for? I have no experience with Drupal, but surely, there is a backend where the site pages and content can be updated.? There must also be a database of customers/registrants, etc. not to mention a place where all the meta tags, etc can be entered and stored? Last but not least, if no one is able to find their site's Drupal login info, is there any way under the sun for me to retrieve it for them? I have a Developer in mind whose got loads of experience migrating from Drupal to WP, but he needs a .sql export file with the contents of the curent databse in order to give us a quote.  Does anyone have any advice? (Other than "This should teach you not to offer your services up to charity!" LOL)

    Hello, 7 days ago, we implemented canonical tags to resolve duplicate content issues that had been caused by URL parameters. These "duplicate content" had already been indexed. Now that the URLs have rel canonical tags in place, will Google automatically remove from its index the other URLs with the URL parameters? I ask because we have been tracking the approximate number of URLs indexed by doing a site: search in Google, and we have barely noticed a decrease in URLs indexed. Thanks.

    Earlier  I asked this http://www.seomoz.org/q/seo-affordable-company and 2 days later I was contacted by a person from a company called optimaltargeting They are not in the seomoz recommended list of companies, but the ones in that list are more expensive. I tried to do searches with their name and rip off or scam, and I couldnt find anything bad about them. I talked with them over skype and they say they do white hat SEO, and linking is manually done. They couldnt promise any results, NOR any estimate of new visits.  My visits are at 6k PER month, and I was thinking that a good seo company should be able to get to 25K in 3 months. 50K in 6 months 100K in 1 year. for my website (www.theprinterdepo.com) Would you suggest me to go forward with this one?

    Hello all, My site www.practo.com has at least more than 500+ pages. Still seomoz says its only 23 crawled till date even after 8 -10 days of the trial period. Now most of the pages on my site are in-site search pages. They appear when you search relevant terms with combinations etc. Is that hindering the moz crawler to look for those pages? Aditya

    I have an e-commerce site that sells around 1,500 SKU's.. but there are some huge categories that we really never sell anything in. I'm thinking of deleting a lot of underselling products. When I put it like that of course, you'll probably agree - but I'm hesitant because I have to wonder what Google will think of my site going from (say) 1,000 products and unique URL's to 500.. or lower. Removing that many URL's, products and product categories worries me that we may be viewed as a smaller store and have a negative impact. What effect would you expect from removing a lot of products? Who has done this?

    Hi guys, about 10 minutes ago, I finally found the underlying problem in magento between 301 redirects and canonical tags - part of the reason why it was hard to identify was because the problem is not constant through all pages. Anyway now that I found the problem, I have about 50 301 redirects to implement via .htaccess. Now I know the regular syntax is Redirect 301 /oldpage.html http://www.yoursite.com/newpage.html But I'm wondering if there's a way that the base domain doesn't have to be specified in the second half of this line. Something like: Redirect 301 /oldpage.html /newpage.html I'm sure this can be done, somehow. Thanks!

    Hello there, I have a Wordpress site and would like to know if it is better to have 600 posts or 600 pages in terms of efficiency in the site. I would like to publish the content as pages, as I can have subapges,etc... and keep the path: www.website.com/page/subpage1... in terms of good SEO. This structure of using pages rahter than posts allow me to keep the path as stated above (with a category/post path I could not manage in this sense as a pile of articles is displayed although the path category/post in terms of SEO I understand would be good too).     Hi, I have this in mind and I think you can help me. Suppose that I have a pagin something like this: www.mysite.com/politics where I have a list of the current month news. Great, everytime the bot check this url, index the links that are there. What happens next month, all that link are not visible anymore by the user unless he search in a search box or google. Does google keep those links? The current month google check that those links are there, but next month are not, but they are alive. So, my question is, Does google keep this links for ever if they are alive but nowhere in the site (the bot not find them anymore but they work)? Thanks

Ok here  goes... when you Google "Kingspan panels" there are no sitelinks in the SERPS ie a listing like this http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc53/zymurgy_bucket/with-sitelinks.jpg My first line of investigatrion was to look at the XML sitemap here: http://www.kingspanpanels.co.uk/CMSPages/GoogleSiteMap.aspx with a view to make sure its updated and Google Fetch it via webmaster tools. I reaped the benefits....and now google has found my duplicate templates and flagged them all down. Question is, how to get the reincluded quickly? Do you guys think converting a site to a basic wordpress template and then simply using 275 different templates and begging applying each site manually would do it, or do you recommend. 1. create a unique site template for each site 2. create unique content any other advice for getting reincluded? Aside from owning up and saying, "hey i used the same template for all the sites, and I have created new templates and unique content, so please let me back".
