Good or Bad - Google reviews from the one IP?
-
Hello, our client wants to place an iPad in their foyer where they invite customers to review via Google / Facebook. My concern is that having too many reviews from the same IP (and esp the business' IP) will look suspicious to Google (be it now, or in the future when the algorithm changes). Do you think Google collect the IP's of reviews? Any thoughts?

My pleasure, E2E!

Thank you Miriam - I appreciate the time you took to respond and provide me with information to take to my client.

Hi E2E,
Definitely "bad". What the client is suggesting is called a "review kiosk" or "review station" and it's likely to result in their Google reviews being filtered out. I've not seen this documented, per se, with Facebook, but I wouldn't advise it as a strategy for any platform. In fact, sometimes reviews can even get filtered out if a customer writes them while using a company's in-house wi-fi. So, definitely advise the client against the kiosk. It's vital that reviewers use their own devices.
Of interest, there was a point about 6 years ago at which Google stated that it was okay to have review kiosks. They then did a 180 and stated that it wasn't okay. Kind of confusing, eh? But, if the client is waffling on this, just show them Google's review content policy (https://support.google.com/business/answer/2622994?visit_id=1-636355701683667727-3832853603&hl=en&rd=2) which states:
If you're a business owner, don't set up review stations or kiosks at your place of business just to ask for reviews written at your place of business.
Hopefully, that will steer them clear of this unadvisable concept

Sharing Blogs on my Personal or Business Google plus Account
Hi i have been using my business G+ account to share my blogs, but have realised that this would have been better using my personal G+ account. Should i now go back through those 50+ blogs and re-share via my personal G+ account eg one every 3 days or should i re-share the G+ business entry? Thanks Ash

Connecting a Google Places & Google+ Account?
Does anybody know how to connect Google Places to Google+? When my company name is searched in Google, the Google+ page appears on the right hand side like it should. However, under the meta description of the first search result there a link saying 'Google+ page' which links to a Google Places Local account. Does anyone know how this can be sorted?

Is Pinterest's Embed a Pin good for SEO?
I was curious if by having Pinterest embed pins on my site will add SEO value... This would be used mainly on product pages for alternative images, closeup detail, any type of image to answer a customers question. I would accompany the pin with more text as another way of adding content to the page. Example on my site: Wicker Sofa product page with Pinterest Embed live. Also attached the screenshot of the code that is used by Pinterest pin embed widget. Hoping that extra unique content + social activity repins or follows, would help my store's SEO. Thank you for your answers in advance... 3uqUz57.png

Purchasing a Google Plus Profile
A client of mine has the opportunity to purchase a google plus profile from a now defunct competitor. Essentially the profile is in tens of thousands of circles, so it may be a decent idea just from a marketing standpoint. When it comes to SEO I am wondering about a few things Is this against Googles rules? Has there been any proof of authorship playing a role in SERP rankings? So if there was an article where the author was in 50 circles compared to the same article where the author was in 50,000 circles would it effect the rankings at all? Have there been any studies done that show that the +1 (from Google Plus users) effects SERP rankings? Sorry for all the questions, but this is an interesting opportunity. Thanks in advance!

Google Autor Profiles in Big Companies
I work for a big company and they want to use the google autor tag. The goal is to get the rich snippets and better rankings in the future from having a trusworthy autor for each topic building up followers basically. The problem is that the company does not want to pay employees to build up their own autor profiles/trust since an employee could leave the company any time and we would have to start from scratch building another autor profile. Now I know that google only wants real people in google plus bla bla ... bla bla ... How do you guys handle this problem? I thought of having our autors sharing one made up autor profile which is owned by the company.

Are there any proven SEO benefits of presence and popularity on Facebook, just as there is supposedly benefit from Google+?
How much does visibility on Facebook (or for that matter, Twitter) impact search engine results? I did see a post recently on SEOMoz recently related to that--- but do others have similar experience/ have data to show strong correlation between FB shares/ Likes and search engine results (on Google)? The second, FB-related question is: what are your thoughts on the effectiveness of Facebook for a B2B audience, particularly in a rather niche sector - let's say industrial products? Look forward to your views and answers! Thanks.

Good idea to include links in Facebook posts teaser-text?
Hi guys, I'm wondering; is it a good idea (for the engines primaliry) to include links with targeted keywords in facebook posts. From a user perspective I would say it's not desirable. But I'm wondering how Google and co treat links which they find there. They are nofollowed, yes. They are indexed however but when I want google to show me the text-only version of the cached page I receive an 404 error which is odd. Anybody else getting the 404 from google? Eg. clicking on this cache-URL: https://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:jsC_26QVKbgJ:www.facebook.com/echoonline/posts/156674087731661+site:facebook.com/echoonline&cd=3&hl=de&ct=clnk&gl=de&client=firefox-a and then on "text only" leads to this page which does not exist: https://webcache.googleusercontent.com/echoonline/posts/156674087731661?_fb_noscript=1 Looking forward to your ideas on this topic.
