  • I am looking for some recommendations on legitimate companies who can plan and execute an effective link bait campaign. Particularly I am looking for companies who have experience in producing infographics and distributing them for links. Thanks

  • I've been analyzing my competition and found some great directories with High DAs that require the Reciprocal code to be on the same domain as the submitted link . When I went to my competitor's website, the reciprocal link is not there. Does he/she put the link on their page, than have directory verify the code, and then remove the link? If anyone fully understands how this works, please let me know.

  • Hi, I've created a Hubpage awhile back and I see the url has a page authority over 50. How much does Domain authority influence page authority? The url has only 3 (registered) backlinks, so I cannot see an obvious explanation why. I understand that Hubpages was one of the sites that "took a hit" with the Panda update, but it has a domain authority of 84...

  • I have a question about quality of links I'm seeing with my linkbuilding program.  I just noticed that my 2nd ranked backlink contained the keyword as the username with a link back to my site.  There was no relevant text in the comment itself with the keyword linking back to my site.  My question is this good practice?  I wanted to get your opinion of these kind of links for a linkbuilding program.  Here's the backlink and our keyword is the username Cat Control: http://bytesizecss.com/blog/post/fix-haslayout-with-one-line-of-css.  It looks like everyone posting on this page is just linking their username back to their site...  I'm not an SEO expert by any means, but if everyone is doing this same type of link building on a directory type page such as this.  Could these type of links  eventually become a target like what happend with the farmer/panda update?

  • Links seem to be very important to the success of websites today.  That said, they are real tough to come by in my specific industry.  Plus the president of the company does not want any links  on the site, so,................... thats where I am. I paid for links in the past and that was a big mistake!! I am still looking to gain a few links for the website (www.allianceconcretepumps.com) is ezinearticles.com a good location to post aricles in hopes to get links?  If it is a good location, do you know of any other ones which would be beneficial? I know I could use some more and better sight content......... I have quite a lot of fresh stuff in the works not just up yet.  Hopefully in the next few weeks.........? Any other words from the wise are very much welcome.  Thank You Dave

  • Hi all, I was wondering on my commute to work this morning the effectiveness of Social Bookmarking as part of a SEO campaign. The sites I work on generally have the social bookmarking widgets and they do get used by website visitors. In addition to this we also bookmark our sites, new articles and other new content within the top 5 social bookmarking sites. This is all done as part of a wider social strategy. But could I be spending my time better else where? Whats everyones thoughts on Social Bookmarking and do you incorporate it in your SEO campaigns? Cheers Aran UPDATE: I note that SEOmoz Q&A only have Tweet, Like and Stumble...

  • I have a client who has a blog with a side bar on each page, in the sidebar there are various links to the site, as well as links to some of his partner sites. I was looking at the recently updated open site explorer, and noticing that their domain authority is way down, a good amount below their competitors as well. The total links compared  to the linking root domains is ~3000 to 200. So my question is 1. How can I gain on the domain authority front? (more diverse links?) And if so, 2. Should I no-follow the links on their blog so they don't have hundreds of pages with the same links (most internal) on there site Thanks,
    Nick

  • I spotted a few bogus links today on one of my clients sites got in touch with the sites via email asking for them to remove the links. also did a whois and emailed them but have had no reply. Whats the best solution to this if they wont remove the links ? Is there anything you can do. I am just worried these links may have a negative effect on the site.

  • I'm thinking of changing my client's 37 character exact match url because it looks spammy to me and Google says it will be turning the dial down on exact match domains. I still see a lot of value in it however and it is helping this client, albeit very little since he is new in his arena. His goal is to rank for keywords in that url so I hate to lose the benefit of that url. As an example, let's say his url is floridahealthinsurance-quote.com I'm concerned now because I plan to do some reputable and highly relevant link building and I'm afraid bloggers might hesitate linking to a spammy sounding url. This client does have a branded url that is short and sweet, something like millerbenefits.net, and that redirects to the long url. Back linkers could link to the short url instead. However, it lands people on the site with the long spammy-sounding url and they may not want to be affiliated with it. Something like millerbenefitsinsurance.com is available and it does have 2 keywords in it. Should I get that instead? In short the question is this:
Should I change or keep floridahealthinsurance-quote.com If I should change it, should I change it to:
    millerbenefits.net
    millerbenefitsinsurance.com Thanks for your help!

  • Hi. We are new to the seomoz community so just getting the hange of it. We have run a few reports and found that we have to many links with the eaxct match anchor text. We are as a result we feel penalised and held back at no.7 or lower. There doesn't seem to be any other logical explanations why aren't higher besides that. What would the best way to deal with this over optimisation issue? Thanks

  • Have any of you ever purchased a directory listing with Absolute Directory (http:www.absolutedirectory.com)? I was thinking about suggesting it to some of my clients since it was inexpensive, had a good domain authority (58), moz trust (5.81), and didn't seem to be filled with any ads or obtrusive content. Any thoughts? Is this to good to be true? Regards - Kyle

  • Does it make sense to submit a business URL in as many relevant web/business directories as possible when kicking off a link building campaign?  Submitting a free listing is obviously better than nothing, but when does it make sense to pay extra for a premium listing profile on some of these directories?  There are just so many and a lot of them appear spammy, even though some of my competitors are getting traffic from them.  Any advice on this would be great!

  • My company has a number of resources pages that are garnering links from external sources. It won't be long before these links outnumber the breadth and the quality of links to my homepage and commercial pages. Does having a lot more links to the resources pages risk unbalancing flow of PageRank around the site? What I want to avoid is a situation where my homepage has a lower PR than my blog/resources, or people searching for relevant terms getting directed to my blog/resources (with many high-quality links) than to my commercial pages (which will have fewer).

  • Ok, so I was just hired to do SEO for a company and so I did a backlink analysis.  As it turns out, they've got a pretty dirty link profile - footer links, white on white links, unrelated links, tiny font links, links from penalized sites, hardly any branded links... you get it. I was thinking about taking the worst of the worst links, removing them and leaving the rest, just to clean it up a little.  I don't want them to get penalized.... but... I don't want their rankings to drop either. Think I should leave them all and just start building relevant, branded links? OR Clean up the whole link profile? OR Just clean it up a little?

  • Does publishing an article from your site on other sites hurt your site if you require a link back to your site? If website B, C, and D publish an article found site A, but they link back to site A, does that hurt or help site A?

  • Hi SEOmoz community! Hopefully a pretty straight forward question here... Does anyone know if linking to "Adsense heavy" websites can have a negative impact on your rankings? Or a positive impact even? Thes sites in particular are owned by a business aquintance, so they come from a trusted source even though the sites themselves look quite "spammy". Also they all have pagerank of 1 or 2 and there's about 100 of the sites that we would link to. Does anyone have any thoughts? Regards, Ash 🙂

  • Hey guys.  I created my first infographic and I'm hoping it's something that will attract a lot of links.  I just have some questions about the best ways to present the infographic. Should I post it on a page on my site that has no ads?  no branding?  Or should I go ahead and put it on my site as a regular piece of content (with ads in the sidebars.) I wondered about doing this: -Post the infographic as a regular page on my site (with regular ads), but if someone clicks on the infographic it would go to a second page where there is limited branding (or no branding)  and no ads.  The embed code (that other webmasters can grab) would link to this page.  But, this page would have a rel-canonical pointing to the original page.  The idea is that my page on the subject will end up getting a lot of links (albeit processed through a rel-canonical) and webmasters will be more likely to embed or link to my content because it is not littered with ads. Thoughts?

  • Does anyone know of any software that will build links if I enter the URL in? I know this sounds silly but I had to ask... I know ontolo is good to discover which links you need based on a key word and I know the SEOmoz tools do the same. My question is that is there any software that you can then enter all the links you have found and acquire them, Thank you for your answers. I really appreciate it. Vijay

  • I have seen other sites showing up in OSE with backlinks from both DMOZ and Google Directory.  We are in DMOZ, and our backling is showing for that in OSE, but i don't understand how to get added to the Google directory?  When i go to the appropriate category, and click "submit link" it just takes me back to DMOZ! Is there something i'm doing wrong here? This is the page we are on in DMOZ And this is the page i believe we should be on in the google directory As a side note, i would love to hear your opinions if this really even matters? does google really use it's own directory as part of its search algorithm?

  • I've been working with a company to get some incoming links since April 2011. We are targeting only 2 keywords. For one keyword I was ranked number 1 until a couple of weeks ago. In fact, most of my rankings went down including those keywords that the company was not working on. They are writing 5 articles per month and posting them to their proprietary network. Could those backlinks could harmed my rankings?

  • My site has many backlinks from 208.109.47.246/* and go.diaodou.com/* which have low authority.  The 208.109.47.246 I believe is my godaddy IP and I don't know why I have the diadou links.  Is there anything I can do about these links other than building other more reputable links?  Could switching hosts or going to a dedicated IP solve the 208.109.47.246 issue? • Hi all, I'm looking to put together a presentation on SEO and I'm wondering if anyone knows any good quotes that relate to the importance of having content on your site that people want to use and share. I'm looking for something like this: “Today’s marketing success comes from self-publishing Web content that people want to share. It’s not about gimmicks. It’s not about paying an agency to interrupt others.” David Meerman Scott “The New Rules of Marketing and PR” but ideally something that illustrates in terms of numbers how much more traffic and seo benefits a site can expect from having good guides, pdfs and news stories that people want to share. Thanks so much for any helo you can offer. thanks, David

  • Does anyone have experience with outcomes on listing your products under grouped search results as opposed to separated out.  It seems that this can be easily accomplished by using a SKU that is different then others in the listing but I wonder if one ranks better over the other (it appears that grouped searched rank a bit higher).  It seems that it would be best to take into consideration the audience you are targeting and what their habits are, i.e. would they be more likely to click on the group searches and look for products that way or do they want to find a reputable brand and would more likely click on that.  Any help or thoughts would be appreciated as I am not really finding any information on this subject.

  • Hi guys, I have, for the first time, set up a Wordpress blog. I'm moulding the overall theme of it to relate to the industry we operate in. I'm new to this, so looking for any advice, help and info etc on how best to utilise it that you can offer. My initial plan is to write articles as often as possible on what's happening in the markets, and link back to our site where applicable. I'll also do content exchanges with other relevant sites (using My Blog Guest as one means to find relevant bloggers), and give access to contributors as well (felt a bit weird about doing it initially). Sound like a decent blogging strategy? Any and all ideas welcome. Thanks

  • With a new site comes new challenges. We have recently finished one of our clients websites in the Retirement (financial) field. www.retirementireland.ie In my opinion the site is looking good, fast loading(very little js, optimized images) and good SEO structuring. As being a new site i feel like the decisions taken now are crucial. If SEO is  done properly could save a lot of time. If not would take us a while until we get  1-5 positions for retirement, retirement options, retirement planning, retirement ireland. Any thoughts on existing design / structure / content. Any extra suggestions are welcome.

  • Hi All, This may be a silly question but I like to ask the obvious 🙂 If i had acround 3,000 twitter followers and wanted to embark on a link campaign, would it be wise to simply tweet out to all and essentially say, please link to my site XXXX or would it be better to select individual followers and email them directly? I was wondering if its just a 'win win' with tweeting followers or whether poor links from some users might cause more harm than good. Thanks all

  • I have two separate websites on different servers and was wondering that since reciprocal links effectively eliminate each other, I'm curious if this link strategy will keep the links counting.  Here's the strategy:  I will have someone link to my site A and if i link to their site from my site B in a three way link strategy, will the links count even though both my site A and B have me listed as the Whois so Google knows that both sites are owned by me?  Or will the links be discounted as reciprocal? Thanks in advance for your feedback! Take care, Ron

  • I manage a site the sells product A and product B (both major keywords for us). If I buy the url www.productB.com and redirect it to the original website, would the original website gain any benefits in search engines? Would the benefits of having a url with the keyword be lessened because there isn't content hosted there, only a redirect to the original site?
