  • I have a site that has 2,50,000 pages and I want to redirect to another domain. Is it good practice for SEO and google?

  • I have been trying to filter this traffic out of my Google Analytics data since it all seems to be related to spam traffic. I have had multiple instances wherein using this filter:
(Backslash not displaying in message preview - I have written backlash to indicate its placement in the filter) Custom Filter - Exclude - Browser Size - ^backlash(not setbackslash)$ Traffic seems to appropriately filter out - but then the filter ceases working. In looking at a new site with Browser Size = (not set) traffic the filter preview doesn't appear to work either. Am I implementing the filter incorrectly? How do I filter this traffic out of GA data sucessfully? If I use the exact same method using RegEx in Google Data Studio - the filter works perfectly.

  • My client is building a new shopping cart that will be mobile friendly BUT will have terrible image quality - tiny images, with text on them. How will these tiny images impact the SEO on the main site? Should they put the store on the mainsite.com or on a subdomain (store.mainsite.com)? Does google see subdomains as part of the main site? I would think that having thousands of shopping product pages could be beneficial to the main site SEO, as long as the images don't negate the content. Thoughts?

  • I have a client that has a HUGE website with thousands of product pages. We don't currently have a sitemap.xml because it would take so much power to map the sitemap. I have thought about creating a sitemap for the key pages on the website - but didn't want to hurt the SEO on the thousands of product pages. If you have a sitemap.xml that only has some of the pages on your site - will it negatively impact the other pages, that Google has indexed - but are not listed on the sitemap.xml.

  • My client currently has a main website on a url and an eCommerce site on a subdomain. The eCommerce site is currently not mobile friendly, has images that are too small and are problematic - and I believe it negates some of the SEO work we do for them. I had to turn off Google Shopping ads because the quality score was so low. That being said, they are rebuilding a shopping cart on a new platform that will be mobile friendly BUT the images are going to be tiny until they slowly replace images over several months. Would you keep the shopping cart on a subdomain, or make it part of the main website URL? Can it negatively impact the progress we have made on the main site SEO.

  • So i have a page that sells say hockey sticks and the website is based in Canada. My keyword focus for the page would be hockey sticks Canada. It seems to be proper to have this key phrase within the page text and also at the beginning of the first paragraph. But how do i write a first paragraph with this keyphrase and make it sound natural. My first instinct is to write the paragraph like so Hockey sticks Canada - We provide excellent quality hockey sticks nationwide which come with a 1 year warranty and have exceptional build quality and exceed performance expectations. But it just doesnt sound natural. If i put it as follows Hockey sticks in Canada are well known for their quality and craftmanship. We provide excellent quality hockey sticks nationwide which come with a 1 year warranty and have exceptional build quality and exceed performance expectations. I add "in" into the keyphrase to make it sound more natural to the reader. Would google look at this and count it as pertaining to the keyphrase hockey sticks canada? Anybody have any info into making key phrases count on the page without looking to unatural to the reader?

  • seo audit reporting

Hello, Mozzers! I'm curious to know how you report SEO audit findings. Do you use a spreadsheet? A presentation? A formal report? Or maybe something else. If you have a favourite audit template, I'd love to see it. A second question: what things do you report in an audit? I currently report crawl findings, authority and trust, link profiles, and competitive analysis. I also investigate a site's security—that's not usually part of an audit, but site owners need to know about it. What do you report to your audit customers? Thanks for sharing your auditing wisdom!

  • We are in a bit of a tricky situation since a key top-level page with lots of external links has been selected as a duplicate by Google. We do not have any canonical tag in place. Now this is fine if Google passes the link juice towards the page they have selected as canonical (an identical top-level page)- does anyone know the answer to this question? Due to various reasons, we can't put a canonical tag ourselves at this moment in time. So my question is, does a Google selected canonical work the same way and pass link juice as a user selected canonical? Thanks!

  • localeze moz local uberall data aggregator

We have multiple Lite Moz Local subscriptions. The comparison page (https://moz.rankious.com/_moz/products/local/pricing#pricing-table) doesn't show which data aggregators Moz submits to but at the bottom it offers a Data Aggregators add-on for $40 that includes Localeze for the Preferred and Elite plans. However, when I checked with Localeze directly, they said Uberall claimed my clients' listings. I did some investigating only to learn that Moz uses Uberall to distribute its data to the directories. Uberall doesn't list Localeze as one of its partners. Does Moz submit Lite subscribers' data to Localeze? If so, is it through Uberall? For some clients, Localeze listings are not consistent with the info we entered on Moz, if Moz submits data to Localeze, how can we correct them?

  • If this is a duplicate post or someone has already asked this i do apologize. Ive been seeking help in increasing our page speed for sometime now and to no avail. https://tools.pingdom.com/#5e9dc9ab78000000 - Seems our page has just too many scripts which is a drag on the load time. We have a dedicated server and dont think its the issue as other websites on there load just fine.
Something about this website www.catdi.com that just makes it top heavy. I've tried a CDN and that didn't work in fact it made it slower.. My question is i believe there's a way to remove, or combine all these scripts that are increasing our load time? Carlos

  • I'm thinking about changing the page titles on my website and wanted to know if it is a good idea to help improve SEO! Using a page 'training and engagement' as an example (as is on the dropdown), the page title itself is actually 'Providing the skills to make the change stick.' Is that long descriptive title negatively effecting me? Or should I change it to 'Training and Engagement'? Any help would be greatly appreciated 🙂 Sam

  • Hello! We have a powerful page that has been selected by Google as a duplicate page of another page on the site. The duplicate is not indexed by Google, and the referring domains pointing towards that page aren’t recognized by Google in the search console (when looking at the links report). My question is - if we 301 redirect the duplicate page towards the one that Google has selected as canonical, will the link juice be passed to the new page? Thanks!

  • Hi, I'm hoping someone can provide some insight. I Google searched "citizenpath" recently and found that all of our our sitelinks have identical text. The text seems to come from the site footer. It isn't using the meta descriptions (we definitely have) or even a Google-dictated snippet from the page. I understand we don't have "control" of this. It's also worth mentioning that if you search a specific page like "contact us citizenpath" you'll get a more appropriate excerpt. Can you help us understand what is happening? This isn't helpful for Google users or CitizenPath. Did the Google algorithm go awry or is there a technical error on our site? We use up-to-date versions of Wordpress and Yoast SEO. Thanks! search.png

  • june 2021 core update core web vitals

    Hello everyone,
We've observed a 50% drop in our Visibility score in the last week. This is our biggest drop ever, which coincides with June Google updates. We're an established ecommerce website located in Canada. This has obviously severely impacted sales. I'm frantically searching for information regarding fixes / implementations to recover asap, but if anybody could point us in the right direction, that would be hugely appreciated. Thanks!

  • We have a very large store with 278,146 individual product pages. Since these are all various sizes and packaging quantities of less than 200 product categories my feeling is that Google would be better off making sure our category pages are indexed. I would like to block all product pages via robots.txt until we are sure all category pages are indexed, then unblock them. Our product pages rarely change, no ratings or product reviews so there is little reason for a search engine to revisit a product page. The sales team is afraid blocking a previously indexed product page will result in in it being removed from the Google index and would prefer to submit the categories by hand, 10 per day via requested crawling. Which is the better practice?

  • Hello, first sorry for my bad english,it isn't my first lanugage.
I have a website with 13 years of history and activity. 5 Months ago we received an warning message from our domain provider which would seize our domain because of sanctions (i live in Iran), and they have seized many of iranian domains since then, therefore i have decided to quickly change my domain to another address so i could save my website as much as possible before they take out my domain...
I have moved my website successfully to a new domain address and have done everything necessary for a good domain move (301 all links, change template and...) I have also used the "Change of Address Tool" provided in google search console so google knows my new domain address and change all of my links...
Unfortunately 90% of my traffics comes from google, therefore we are hevaily depending on organic traffic.
Since i have changed my domain address my traffic has been declining, and now i have only 30% of the traffic input left from google compared to my old domain 5 months ago. (i had recently some SEO troubles too which could effect this decline even more)
Fortunately my old domain wasn't seized by the domain provider and i have successfully transfered it to another provide recently so there is no danger for my old domain anymore.
My question is, should i move my website back to my old domain (cancel the google "Change of Address Tool" and use it again to move the new domain back to the old domain)? My old domain has more than 13 Years of history, has many backlinks within this 13years, and till now, i cannot get good rankings with new posts on the new domain, sometimes google even does not index my new articles several days, but my old domain ranks still well (i have tested a new article on the old domain to see how it performs and it was not very good, but i think it ranks still better than my new domain).
My top pages and categories has been redirected successful and are still ranking well on google on the new domain address and hasn't been affected negativly, my main problem are new posts that are not ranking well o even does not get indexed for several days!
I don't know what to do now, are 5months not enough for google to completly transfer all domain scores from my old domain to the new one? Will all scores of my old domain even transfer to my old domain eventually? How about the many Backlinks i have pointed to the old domain? (which 90% i cannot change or ask to change to my new address) Will the backlinks scores pointing to the old domain transfer to the new domain? In other hand i fear to move my site back to the old domain because i don't know how google would behave, would all my seo score and rankings come back after i move back to the old domain? Also as far as i know, after 6months of using the google "Change of Address Tool" i cannot cancle the domain change anymore, therefore i have roughly 1 month to decide to cancle the move or not...
Please if anyone could help or guide me what to do it would be life saving for me, because my whole income and my family depends on my website...  😞

  • Hi I'm brand new to SEO stuff, and I'm trying to monetize my blog. I have a Q from you about optimizing my blog for an international audience. So I thought where is better to ask my question 🙂 My q is: Does the country that you are living in and publishing your post affect your SEO if you blog in English? For instance, if I live in turkey, but I publish my whole posts in English, will Google hesitate to show my content to an English audience? In other words, Does the publishing source country make it harder to contest with native English bloggers for google's page 1? Thanks in advance for your attention

  • Hi there, We upgraded our webshop last weekend and our moz crawl on monday found a lot of errors we are trying to fix. I am having some communication problems with our webmaster so I need a little help. We have extremely long category pages url, does anyone have a guess which kind of mistake our webmaster could make:
https://site-name.pl/category-name?page=3?resultsPerPage=53?resultsPerPage=53 .... And it keeps on repeating the string ?resultsPerPage=53 exactly 451 times as if there was some kind of loop. Thanks in advance for any kind of hint 🙂
    Kind regards,

  • A company I work for ranks well in the Local Pack under its primary service offering i.e. "primary service Bristol". And also under some other services it offers. However, under other services that are offered, it doesn't show in the local pack despite ranking No 1 in the natural SERPS for the target phrase "example service Bristol". We have pages covering all main services in the main site navigation bar. Is this just the way it is or can something be done to resolve this? Does the detail in the third-party citations have a significant impact? What about the content of the reviews? I note that we are doing better under the services mentioned within the reviews. Should I add additional categories and emulating those used by the competition under the search terms? Or am I missing something else?

  • Can you share your experiences in managing SEO QA automation of large websites with millions of pages?
what are the things you are regularly testing for, besides the most obvious - hreflangs/canonicals, robots.txt, sitemap, non-200 status codes, redirect rules?
do you use in-house developed tools or external tools?
    if external - which ones?
how do you run your QA automation scripts? external server or some online tools? upon every release or hourly/daily/monthly?

  • Hi there, Quick question on mobile SEO. Basically, I don't think I can effectively format my mobile website design unless I just build it as a collection of pictures. This way it'll be possible to format so it doesn't look a jumbled mess. My question - if my mobile version is just essentially HQ screenshots/pictures put together, how will that affect my SEO for mobile? PS if anyone has suggestions on how I can design my mobile version without affecting desktop I'd appreciate it. I'm using shopify and across many of the themes I've tried whatever I design on desktop has to format on mobile as well. To my knowledge only wix allows you to independently edit the mobile and desktop versions.

  • Our company implemented Google Shopping for our site for multiple countries, currencies and languages. Every combination of language and country is accessible via a url path and for all site pages, not just the pages with products for sale. I was not part of the project. We support 18 languages and 14 shop countries. When the project was finished we had a total of 240 language/country combinations listed in our rel alternate hreflang tags for every page and 240 language/country combinations in our XML sitemap for each page and canonicals are unique for every one of these page. My concern is with duplicate content. Also I can see odd language/country url combinations (like a country with a language spoken by a very low percentage of people in that country) are being crawled, indexed, and appearing in serps. This uses up my crawl budget for pages I don't care about. I don't this it is wise to disallow urls in robots.txt for that we are simultaneously listing in the XML sitemap. Is it true that these are requirements for Google Shopping to have XML sitemap and rel alternate hreflang for every language/country combination?

  • As of June 1 doctor pages on our website that say "No ratings are available yet" are being Soft 404ed in our Google Console. We suspect the issue is that wording, due to this post. https://www.contentkingapp.com/academy/index-coverage/faq/submitted-soft-404/ Just wondering if anyone with more expertise than me on 404s or local seo can validate that it is likely this issue. • Hi! We are trying to rank https://windowmart.ca for various local search terms. Our head office is in Edmonton where we try to rank https://windowmart.ca/edmonton-windows-doors/ for such terms as "windows Edmonton", "replacement windows Edmonton", "windows and doors Edmonton" as well as others. The website was the leader in its niche for around 2 years. Then we've got some server related issues, moved to a new server and connected CDN Nitropack that really improved our google speed test results. Recently we noticed that our rankings started to drop. Do you know if Nitropack can negatively effect local SEO rankings? Thank you!
