Keyword Gap 2.0 is now in beta! Just a refresher - Keyword Gap is a handy tool that helps you identify top-ranking keywords and gain competitive insights. You can see granular data about how you and your competitors are performing, see where you overlap, and spot opportunities to overtake them in the SERPs.
We’ve made significant improvements to this existing tool in the Competitive Research suite, and we can’t wait for you to try out the updated features! We're also working on a few additional improvements that will roll out throughout the beta period.
Updated features currently include:
An improved Competitor Overlap chart – this interactive Venn diagram visualizes how your ranking keywords overlap with those of your competitors.
New pre-filtered keyword rankings lists – The new Keyword Opportunities view makes it easier than ever to see where your competitors are ranking and you’re not, helping you spot key gaps in your strategy. The Winning Keywords view shows you all the keywords where you’re already outranking your competitors. Keep an eye on these keywords to make sure you don’t lose ground!
Improved winning rank markers – Now it’s even easier to see who owns that top spot in the SERP among your competitors with the addition of a clear crown marker next to the top rank.
Additional ranking URL information – Easily see the ranking URL for each keyword and additional pages that are being included in the SERP (along with their associated ranks).
With these new updates in place, you’ll be able to perform more thorough competitive analysis and keyword research. Spot keywords within striking distance, find the gaps in your content and keyword targeting strategies, and keep an eye out for when your competitors are threatening to overtake your position in the SERPs.

Brand Authority now ensures a better assessment of competitive positioning
The newest Moz metric, Brand Authority, has received an update! At its initial launch, Brand Authority was primarily US-based. We’re happy to announce that our data set for this helpful metric has been expanded to include the UK, CA, and AU. This allows for a more holistic view of brand strength across key English-speaking markets. Additionally, it provides you and your team with the tools to better assess and communicate the competitive positioning of your brands or clients on a global and local scale. The new scoring model aligns with the evolving needs of businesses operating in diverse regions, offering actionable insights to drive SEO and content strategy.
What are the key benefits of this update?
Enhanced Locale-Specific Scoring: This provides more accurate Brand Authority scores for global brands and offers better representation across four major English-speaking markets (US, UK, Canada, and Australia).
Improved Accuracy: Ensures large non-US brands, which are highly authoritative in their local market but less known internationally, are accurately scored for their specific regions.
More Data-Driven Insights: Expands the Moz data set to improve the overall reliability of Brand Authority scoring.

Unlock the power of the Moz API with new endpoint methods
Back in June, we revealed that 5 new beta API methods had been launched. Today, we’re excited to announce they have officially moved out of beta and into general release. And even more exciting? We’ve added our most-used V2 API endpoint to the new V3 API, along with improved documentation.
The following API methods are now part of the Moz API V3 in general release:
Fetch Keyword Metrics — Retrieve the most recent Difficulty, Volume, Organic CTR, and/or Priority metrics for any keyword in our database.
Fetch Search Intent — Retrieve the most recent Search Intent scores (navigational, informational, commercial, and transactional) for any keyword in our database.
List Related Keywords — Retrieve a list of related Keyword Suggestions for a given input keyword.
Fetch Brand Authority™ — This endpoint returns a Brand Authority score for the provided target. Use this metric to understand the strength of your website’s brand, benchmark against competitors, and more.
Fetch Site Metrics — Use this endpoint to get metrics such as Domain Authority, Page Authority, Spam Score, link counts, and more for one URL. This is the equivalent to URL metrics in the Moz API V2.
Fetch Multiple Site Metrics — Use this endpoint to get metrics such as Domain Authority, Page Authority, Spam Score, link counts, and more for one or more URLs.
List Ranking Keywords — Retrieve a list of keywords for which the provided site (domain, subdomain, subfolder, or page) ranks in the top 50, along with the ranking position, Difficulty, and Monthly Volume for each keyword.

The new Explore By Keyword interface offers streamlined workflows, more data, and better insights for better decisions
Back in June, we released the Explore by Keyword 2.0 beta with improved UI and additional metrics. Since then, we’ve been hard at work making further improvements and are excited to announce that Explore By Keyword has been fully updated to the new experience!
Explore By Keyword allows you to learn everything you could possibly want to know about a query. A totally overhauled user experience and a wealth of new information improve this experience.
What’s new in Explore By Keyword?
- The Minimum Domain Authority of the top 10 organic results has been added to the overview of keyword metrics allowing you to gain further insight into the pages competing in the SERP.
- Primary Search Intent is now identified for the searched keyword making it easier to make decisions around keyword targeting and content creation.
- The SERP Features found in the results for the searched keyword are clearly noted at the top of the results, making it easier to see opportunities to update your content and schema markup.
- Keyword suggestions that are Questions have been added to the primary overview page, giving you a quick view of content ideas and tangential keyword opportunities.
- SERP Analysis has been added to the same page as your keyword metrics, so you can scope out the competition without leaving the page.
