Overview of My Score
The My Score metric is only found in the Keyword Lists section of Keyword Explorer.
My Score is essentially a way to specify how crucial the keyword is to your client, your manager, or your own website based on your own knowledge of your site or industry.
The Nitty Gritty Details
My Score is an adjustable number from 1-10 that begins at a default My Score of 3. You can cut down your score by two thirds by setting it to 1, or increase it to 10 to increase its value by a factor of three. Base your adjustments on your overall business needs.
This not only provides another way to organize and sort results, it’ll ultimately factor into the keyword's Priority score.
What's a good score?
This is up to you! If you don't know yet, don't worry — you can leave those scores at 3 for now.
Why use My Score?
My Score allows you to apply a measure of importance to the keywords in your Keyword List which will, in turn, change the Priority score listed for those keywords. This can help you to further sort and prioritize keywords you may be interested in targeting for your site.
Let’s look at an example of this in action. Say you have a blog which focuses on vegan ice cream so you create a Keyword List of keyword suggestions related to ice cream recipes. When you initially create the list, all your keywords will have a My Score of 3 Neutral.
Since your blog focuses on vegan ice cream, the keywords related to vegan recipes may have a higher importance to you and your site when researching followed by dairy free and then maybe the generic recipe-related terms. With this in mind, the My Score for these terms can be adjusted to apply this hierarchy of importance. Once those are updated, the Priority scores for those keywords will update allowing you to sort and give precedence to research and content creation around those higher priority keywords.
