Connect Facebook

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Once Facebook is connected, you’ll be able to update your profiles directly through Moz Local. Any changes made in the Facebook platform will revert to the information in Moz Local. This includes your business logo and cover photo.
  • Our system can only connect business pages or local pages, i.e. pages that have an address listed. By definition, brand pages do not have an address. If you want to connect a brand page, you can add an address on Facebook, and then connect the Facebook account (this last step allows our system to link the administered Facebook page to the corresponding Moz Local account).
  • No, we are only able to connect to business or local pages.
  • Check your Facebook page has an address displayed and that your business address on Facebook matches your info in Moz Local. You will also need to allow full access for Moz Local to Facebook when connecting. Once you’ve checked this, retry the connection process.
  • No, Facebook and GMB duplicates must be handled manually through their platforms. They will not be included in the duplicate removal process.
  • Facebook does not support the submission of address line 2 via API. This means you will not see the address line 2 from your Moz Local profile added to, or updated on, your connected Facebook page. If you need to have address line 2 included in your business address on Facebook, it is recommended that you do not connect Facebook to Moz Local in order to update that information manually. If you need to disconnect Facebook from Moz Local, you can do so by following the instructions outlined below.

Preparing to connect Facebook

Prior to connecting Facebook to your Moz Local location, there are a few items to check to ensure the process goes smoothly.

  • Make sure you are using your real, personal Facebook account. You cannot use an account with a fake name, and you cannot use an ads account named after a business. Facebook will consider these accounts to be manufactured (or grey accounts), and there is a good chance they will disable them. If you need more information about grey accounts, you can review Facebook's help documentation.

  • Make sure you have a Facebook Business page. Please review Facebook's help documentation if you need guidance on how to create a business page.

  • Make sure you have the appropriate access level to the Facebook Business Page you want to connect to Moz Local. You will need to be an Admin or Editor on the page itself. Please review Facebook's help page if you need more information on setting permissions.
