In this guide you’ll learn about Rules in the Moz Local platform.

Setting up Engagement rules

Need to create a rule for your engagements? Navigate to Rules under the Conversations dropdown and complete the following steps:

  • Click "Add Rule" at the top right of the dashboard.

  • The "Create Rule" pop-up will display. Name your Rule and assign it a numerical priority. (If any Engagement falls under multiple Rules, the one with the highest priority will take effect.

  • Set up your "Filters".

    • Engagement Type - Select one or more types of engagements that fall under this Rule.

    • Message - Enter any keywords that you want to be included in the engagement's text to fall under this Rule (click the "?" to the right of this text box to view your search options).

    • Author has - Enter a minimum number of followers that a Twitter account must have for this Rule to take effect.

    • Sentiment is - Select from the dropdown if you wish to only include positive, negative, or neutral sentiments of Engagements for this Rule.

  • Set up the "Actions" that will occur when the above filter options are triggered by an Engagement.

    • Assign to - Check this box and select from the dropdown a specific User that will be assigned a Task to respond to any Engagement that filters into this Rule.

    • Mark as - Select to have specific types of Engagements automatically marked as either "Archived" or "Deleted."

    • Deadline - Set a custom deadline (minutes, hours, or days) by which an assigned User has to respond to any Engagement that filters into this Rule.

    • Set Tags - Select this if you with to automatically tag any Engagement that filters into this Rule.

  • Once your Rule is all set up, click "Create."

  • You will be able to return to the Rule at any time under the Rules list. From this list, you have the ability to:

    • Edit your Rule by clicking the pencil icon. While editing an existing Rule, you have the option of clicking "Save As New" to create a new Rule based on the edits you just made without making any changes to the Rule you just edited.

    • Download data on all the Engagements that have filtered into that Rule by clicking the download icon.

    • Delete your Rule by clicking the trash icon.
